  • Marvellous Museum

    Tue 11 Mar 2025 Sally

Last Tuesday, year 3 went on a school trip to Cardiff Museum. We got to find out about Wales in the past. Firstly, we explored the dinosaur and animals section, and built a special dinosaur jigsaw. We saw a woolly mammoth, a hyena and much more.

After that, we saw lots of different rocks - some were moon rocks! We saw some sparkly, beautiful crystals with a shine like the sun.

We also used paper and crayons to sketch special fossils on a table.

After lunch, we went upstairs to the art gallery and we had to be very quiet! We saw lots of interesting things such as statues and paintings. There was a humongous vase!

If you are ever interested in going to Cardiff Museum, do it before it's too late!

  • A snake-y Chinese New Year

    Fri 31 Jan 2025 Harry

On Wednesday we celebrated the Chinese New Year. It is the year of the snake so we had lots of crafts to show about snakes. Dosbarth Dafad made a spiral snake with different repeating patterns. Maes made woven snakes using wool! Catwg made a traditional red envelope with different colours and symbols.

Bronllwyn made a long, paper chain snake. Each part of the snake had names and symbols on. Garth made snakes by carefully folding paper and finally Bronhaul made a poster about Chinese New Year.

At the end of the day, everyone had a fortune cookie to take home from FOPSA.

  • Rock School Extravaganza!

    Thu 18 Jul 2024

Weeks of hard work in Rock School finally came together in yesterday's Rock School Extravaganza!!

Years 3-6 gave their everything to perform Matilda to a spellbound audience and absolutely blew everyone away with their many talents.

The children learnt skills such as acting, dancing, juggling, gymnastics, spinning plates and making props during Rock School sessions led by the staff. All these skills came together beautifully for the show.

The show was professionally filmed and will be available to purchase for £6 if you would like to have a lovely reminder of the performance!

  • Sports Day

Thu 04 Jul 2024 Grace, Isobelle, Harrison and Mason

Sports day was an exciting day for all!

Firstly we made banners to cheer people on while they were doing sport. We rotated around each sport in our classes to try to win points for our house colours. The colours are red, yellow, blue, and green.

The first activity was passing the rugby ball around, up and down in a straight line. After that we did javelin and it was very fun. The next activity you got to play was football and there was also hockey, long jump and relay.

After that, we began the individual races. There was egg and spoon, sprint and the obstacle course. Everybody did extremely well but the team who won was red and they got lift the the trophy 2 times and did 2 laps of honour around the field.

  • The Grand Opening Day

Thu 27 Jun 2024 Evie, Adam, Imi and Aisha

The big day finally arrived! Our new build was opened and we had a special day to celebrate.

On the opening day we got to do lots of exciting activities around the school with lots of teachers, such as roasting marshmallows. We sang some campfire songs, then we sang some Matilda songs and danced. We painted rocks to decorate the new courtyard area, we made jewellery in Dosbarth, we drew our school logo onto necklaces and coloured it in. Following that, we played games outside, we went on bikes, played noughts and crosses and swing ball.

Everybody then gathered for a huge celebration full of songs and performances from both the children and Mr Murphy's choir. The new build was then declared open!

  • Year 4 and 6 Camp Out!

Thu 27 Jun 2024 Heather, Gracie, Teddie, Alisha-Leigh and Imaya

There was a very special occasion on June 21st! Pentyrch Primary held our first ever camp out. Year 4 and Year 6 took part and here is what they did!

Firstly, Year 4 and 6 walked up the Garth mountain and had lunch up the Garth. It took about an hour to walk up the mountain. The Garth is a mountain in Pentyrch. Once at the top, they played games and even rolled down the hills (some landed in cow poop!)

When they got back to school, the children had biscuits and squash and pitched their tents. They played fun games like rounders and other field games. They also roasted marshmallows and sang songs around the campfire in the log circle.

Carol had made some delicious pasta for dinner which they ate outside. Late in the night, they sang camp songs and went bat-hunting. Bedtime was at 10pm (there was not a lot of sleep!)

It's safe to say they had a fantastic time and we can't wait to do it all again next year!

  • Hazel's 50th Year as a Lollipop Lady Celebrations

Thu 27 Jun 2024 Lucy, Jack, Bella & Amelia

On the 10th June, we gathered together to celebrate a very special occasion. Hazel, our lollipop lady, has worked 50 years helping children cross the roads safely. Here is what we did!

    • First the school put some big balloons outside the school. Then the amazing Hazel walked in with her husband, and she took a seat at the front of the school hall whilst listening to music from the 1970s.

    • Some of the year 6s said some fantastic poems about the 1970s.

    • After that the year 5s talked about interesting lollipop lady history.

    • Then the year 4s said about who won the amazing Eurovision in the 1970s (which was Sweden, and they sang Waterloo by Abba) and they told us how much things cost in the 1970s (if you knew you would be surprised).

    • Next the year 3s asked Hazel some mind-blowing questions about her job like 'tell us about the time you saved 2 children from a burning car.'

    • Following that the year 2s said some thank yous to Hazel for helping us to cross safely.

    • Next the Reception/Nursery children sang a song called 'The Lollipop Lady' to Hazel.

    • Finally, we gave Hazel some presents for keeping us safe and for doing her job for 50 years whether it is raining or the sun was shining, she is always outside helping us cross the road safely! Thank you, Hazel!
